Church Planting Internship

Keeper of the PlainsSince 2008, in partnership with local churches, we have planted over two dozen churches in the Wichita area. Many of those churches are thriving and are making a great impact on our city and in their communities. We believe there are over half a million lost people in the Wichita Metropolitan Area, and these churches are working hard reach those that are far from God.

These church plants started with different models and values. Their leadership and discipleship structures are different, and they have learned to adapt and adjust over time. The leaders of each of these plants continues to learn how best to reach their communities, and lead their people. This unique environment of different kinds of church plants in close proximity, makes the Wichita area the perfect place for a man to explore his call to church planting.

Plant Kansas Church Planting Internship
Plant Kansas is looking for a young man who feels he is called to plant a church, but is not yet sure where he might plant, or what model of church planting he might use. Over the course of 12-18 months, the intern will choose two to three different church plants to spend 20-25 hours a week with. During that time he will be exposed to “the why”, “the what” and “the how” of each of those models, and be given opportunities to serve within them. Outside of time spent with the specific models, reading assignments and training will be provided on church planting missiology and multiple church planting approaches.

Interns may choose to learn in a number of different contexts: from urban to suburban, from hipster to cowboy, from values driven to gospel centered, from lay lead to elder lead to pastor lead. There is much to learn from any of these contexts and approaches to church planting.

The duration of the internship will be established from the beginning, and has an open start date. The internship provides pay of $1,000 a month for 12-18 months. Interns are encouraged to find part time jobs that allow them to fully participate in the internship program, as well as provide opportunities to apply what they are learning in real world contexts. Assistance with housing will be provided based on availability.
