West Ridge Community Church

About West Ridge

West Ridge Community Church is a multiplication from River Community Church in Wichita Kansas (which started in 2000.) Like River, West Ridge is based on a small group model and deeply values the discipleship process as well as reaching our friends and co-workers through value added programming and life skills development. There is, quite simply, no way that we could have launched without River Community. River provided significant funding for our launch by paying the lead pastor for three months while he worked exclusively on West Ridge. River also “donated” somewhere around 200 of its members/attenders to help start West Ridge. We are so grateful for their generosity.

About The Pastor

Dave Mitchell is the lead pastor at West Ridge Community Church. He grew up a Preacher’s Kid in Manhattan Kansas, and ran from the call on his life until 1990 when he came on staff at River Community Church in Wichita. Dave worked with children, singles and college students at River while completing an M-Div from Midwestern. He later earned a D-Min from Midwestern and became the director of Group Life at River Community. Dave married far above his station when he got Heidi. They’ve been married since December of 2000. They have an eight year old boy named Vance and a ten year old girl named Holly. In September of 2011, the time seemed right for River to plant a church in West Wichita and West Ridge Community Church met for the first time on September 2nd, 2012.
